Nothing on this site is decided by taste alone. Each of these four systems has a written rule.
Every game carries tags. A scoring pass picks the strongest tag and files the game there, so the seven shelves never duplicate each other. Ties go to the shelf listed first, which is the calm one.
A pack is a measurable rule about time, players or stamina. Because the rule is measurable, a game can sit in two packs without anyone arguing.
A fixed stride through the catalogue, keyed to the date, coprime with 212. No editor decides it, and no engagement metric touches it.
Rank, shelf or new — never two at once. The rule exists so a card can be read at a glance without becoming a scoreboard.
